Synopsis

Synopsis:  Friends with benefits—that’s the agreement. No commitments. No complications … but it’s never that simple.

At my wit’s end, I planned to spend the winter focusing on my writing, away from the soul-sucking grind that’s become my norm. The last person I expected to step in and save me when things go awry is my brother’s teammate, the intense and sometimes grumpy Dean Harrison. This winter my goals are threefold: find my happy place, elevate my writing, and try not to get my heart broken by an aloof baseball player. (read more on GoodReads)

My Thoughts

I stumbled upon the author via Instagram and saw that she was offering a review copy of her upcoming release. I took a chance and applied.  I was lucky to receive an advanced copy of Calling it Safe and the feedback below is offered voluntarily, and the opinions expressed are entirely my own.

I am an instant fan of Lo Everett! I loved this book! Everything—from her writing style and the characters to the romance—was outstanding. The book made me laugh and cry, and I couldn’t put it down. If you enjoy rom-com or chick-lit novels with a dash of spice, this book is perfect for you! There are elements of family tension and emotional manipulation, but these do not overpower or detract from the romantic plot.

Dean and Mia are a great duo and I can’t wait to pick up the next book.  I plan to go back and read the first two books in the series because I am captivated by Lo’s writing style. Reading this book felt like catching up with a friend who’s sharing the juicy details of their love life. Be prepared with tissues, as I found myself tearing up in several parts of the story.

I rated this book 5 out of 5 stars. It was an engaging, charming, and enjoyable read, and I highly recommend it to anyone who likes sports romances with spicy scenes. If that sounds like your cup of tea, don’t hesitate to pick up this book!
