For probably far too long, I have hemmed and hawed over what to write here. Why is writing about yourself and your accomplishments so hard?
What can I tell you about myself? I’m a mom of 2, a wife, and an English girl living in Florida. I’m a bookworm, a crafter, a life documenter, and now a writer. Being a writer has always been a seemingly far-fetched idea, but after my first semester at the University of Central Florida, I’m finally coming around to the idea that I might actually achieve that goal. I just had to find my GRIT and passion to start practicing.
I didn’t second-guess myself when I started my small business in 2016. I felt I had the skills, and maybe some know-how, to build something great. And I did. As a self-taught graphic designer, I built a graphic design business that I was proud of. While running the business, I strengthened my skills with Adobe Illustrator, PhotoShop, and InDesign and gained new skills in social media marketing, content writing, and email marketing campaigns.
The pandemic hit, and the niche market the business was in started to crumble. I seized the opportunity during this lull in business to take a few creative writing classes online from my local college and fell in love with writing again.
I am looking forward to the opportunities of blending my love of graphic design, telling stories, and the publishing world as I further my studies and career.
