ENC 4293 – Documentation & Project Management
Role: Technical Editor, Document Designer, Production Lead
Project Type: Collaborative Style Guide (Class Project)
Project Overview
This collaborative project involved producing a full Technical Writer’s Style Guide for UCF’s ENC 4293 course. I served as one of two Technical Editors, contributing to the guide’s content, editorial consistency, and overall publication design. My work included co-developing the class-wide style sheet, writing a chapter on ethical AI use in writing, designing the full visual identity of the document, and assembling the final professional PDF now used as a model in the course.
My Contributions
Instructional Writing — “Using AI as a Tool for Writing”
I authored a full instructional section that guides new writers through ethical, practical, and effective strategies for using AI in drafting and revision. Topics included prompting, maintaining voice, identifying AI-generated errors, and academic considerations.
Technical Editing
I ensured every chapter followed the style sheet we created, maintaining consistency in tone, headings, typography, examples, citations, and formatting across multiple edited drafts.
Document Design & Layout
I designed the guide’s complete visual system, including the cover, back-cover blurb, front matter, typography hierarchy, page templates, headers, footers, callout styles, spacing structures, and internal navigation.
Compilation & Publication
I assembled all edited chapters into a unified, publication-ready document, standardized cross-chapter formatting, created a linked interactive Table of Contents, and prepared the final accessible, print-ready PDF.
Project Outcome
The completed guide was approved by the instructor for future use as an example for incoming ENC 4293 students. This project demonstrates my strengths in technical communication, instructional writing, editing workflows, document design, and large-document production.
