Hi, I’m Kate Earley—a writer, editor, and perpetual story-obsessed human currently completing my B.A. in Writing & Rhetoric at the University of Central Florida. I specialize in developmental editing, line editing, and story-coaching for fiction writers, with a particular love for character-driven narratives, middle grade and YA fiction, fantasy, and emotionally immersive stories.
My work sits at the intersection of writing, design, and editorial strategy. Whether I’m shaping a technical style guide, revising a short story, or helping an author refine their manuscript, I approach every project with equal parts precision and heart. I believe great writing is built on clarity, voice, intention, and a deep respect for the reader’s experience.
Outside the classroom, I run Plot & Paper, where I combine my editorial background with my love of books, storytelling, and community. I’m also a proud member of ACES: The Society for Editing and Sigma Tau Delta, and I actively pursue opportunities to grow as both a writer and an editor.
My goal—whether through editing, teaching, or publishing—is to support stories that matter and help writers bring their work to its strongest, most authentic form.
When I’m not editing or writing, you can usually find me reading middle grade fantasy, working on my planners, or drinking tea like it’s a personality trait.
